Signature Tours

Secrets of the South Day Tour

On the South side of the Luberon Mountain Chain lies a series of secrets that will enchant your day with so much diversity you’ll wonder why you came for only a day.
Discover a hidden gorge, two of Provence’s most beautiful castles, a local Provencal bread made with olive oil, vineyards, and olive groves.
Your day can incorporate a winery tour, a Provencal picnic, a truffle hunt, and an olive oil farm visit. Of course, we can’t do it all, so together we’ll design your tour to give you the magic you want for the day.
Two of the villages on this day tour are ranked as “most beautiful” in France (Lourmarin and Ansouis) but the remarkable village atmosphere doesn’t stop with just these two villages. Other villages such as Cucuron and Vaugines will also offer their heritage to you.

Hilltop Luberon Tour

Many travelers leave Provence and say they wish they had spent more time in the Luberon. The diversity of the landscape and the stunning hilltop villages, each with their own character, create an undeniably magical atmosphere.
Your day tour in the Luberon can be the classic tour visiting the must-see hilltop villages of Gordes, Roussillon, Lacoste, Bonnieux and Menerbes or you can choose an off-the-beaten-path tour taking you to some lesser known villages and hidden treasures (castle ruins, a hidden abbey, a windmill, country chapels, and some magical lookout points).
Either way, you will be mesmerized by the skill of the workers from the past who fashioned the villages and countryside. A private home lunch in a magical atmosphere can be arranged for groups of 4 or more.

Lavender Day Trips

Who doesn’t dream of standing in the midst of a sea of lavender? A lavender day trip in Provence is a once-in-a-lifetime experience that will leave an imprint on your senses. Your tour to see the lavender is designed to show you the different facets: the village surrounded by lavender, the purple field stretching to the blue horizon, the plateaus and the mountains all decorated with the scent of the purple flowers.
There are different lavender areas in Provence, each with a unique soul. Your lavender tour gives you the opportunity for quality photo shots, distillery visits and boutique shopping for those must take-home lavender products.
Dates limited to availability from June 15th – July 15th). See Your Private Provence group lavender tours here if you’re interested in a week-long group lavender tour.

Authentic Provence Day Tour

Allow me to show you the authentic side of Provence in an area that is tucked away behind the legendary Mount Ventoux. This lesser visited area of Provence carries a different charm from the more visited places around Gordes and Saint Remy de Provence. The authentic Provence tour will take you to the only place in France that still makes scourtins (coconut fiber mats used in the past for pressing olive oil and today mostly for decorative purposes).
Not only will you see the 19th century manufacturing process still in action, you will learn the history of the former inhabitants. This tour also gives you the chance to taste olive oil, wine and artisan vinegar, walk through unspoiled villages, drive one of the most scenic roads in Provence and visit the biggest Renaissance castle in Provence. (Tour does not run on Sundays).

Cotes-du-Rhone Wine Tour

If you are a wine lover or just curious about agriculture in Provence, let your private chauffeur treat you to a day dedicated to discovering the magnificent landscapes of vineyards, the regional varieties, and the methods of making wine in the South Cotes-du-Rhone region. From Chateauneuf-du-Pape to Seguret, Gigondas, Vacqueyras and Beaumes-de-Venise, you will have varied wine tasting experiences that allow you to immerse into the life of the wine grower, walk in the cellars and explore the tastes and aromas particular to the region.
Your wine tour will be personalized to offer you a unique wine experience. From small domains to larger well-known labels, from a Provencal picnic to a uniquely catered gourmet winery lunch, and from classic tastes to more contemporary tastes, your idea of the best wine tour is what matters.

Taste Provence

This signature tour starts in Avignon at the indoor gourmet market (Les Halles). Together, we’ll pick up traditional Provencal food to enjoy during our picnic lunch. The fun of tasting and picking out your picnic food becomes an opportunity for you to understand the culinary secrets of Provence.
While in the heart of Avignon, we will take time to admire the UNESCO world heritage sites and learn about the key historical elements that made Avignon one of the biggest medieval cities. Next stop is the island opposite Avignon, the largest river island in Europe, to enjoy our picnic with a view of Avignon across the river.
After lunch, partake in the slow Provencal lifestyle with a digestif at the island distillery where over 20 different liqueurs and brandies are distilled. The tour ends in Villeneuve-les-Avignons where one more “taste” awaits you: Olive oil.
If your tour is in November, you may see the locals coming in with their olive harvest for the mill to press. (Tour does not run on Mondays, option of visiting Abbey Saint André).

Van Gogh Tour

Intrigued by the life of Van Gogh?
Want to know more or perhaps you know a lot but have never walked in his footsteps?
Discover the places he painted in Saint Remy de Provence and Arles. Retrace, like a detective, the key moments of his life in the South.
Your chauffeur guide will open up the story of Van Gogh in an intimate manner so you finish the day feeling as though you traveled in Provence during the 19th century.
This tour takes you through the Alpilles region where you will have a chance to see Les Baux de Provence from a secret lookout point and also visit the amazing sound and light show portraying famous works of art on the walls, floor and ceiling of an old quarry (Carrières de Lumière).

One perfect week in Provence

Where to go, what to do, what not to miss (foodie fun) and a few travel tips just for you!

What People Are Saying

Before we arrived, Emily had designed a lovely tour of Provence villages just for us. Attentive to our interests and needs, she crafted an adventure that was a highlight of a trip to France and Italy.
In several days, she introduced us to the history of these hill towns, the beauty of the rural landscape, and the feel of markets, twisty streets, churches, and Van Gogh's world. Though we saw a good deal, she also made time for little matters, too, browsing a field of poppies, sipping a cup of coffee during an unexpected downpour, and sitting on a wall to sketch and feel the spirit of a place.
Best of all, she was congenial, thoughtful, open, and just good to be with, adding such a human touch to our little stay in Provence. We loved it! (There was NO way we could have rented a car, navigated our way around - especially with parking - found a hotel and restaurants, and enjoyed ourselves as much without her.) We missed her company when we got on a train in Avignon to continue our journey.
